Hair Transplant

Hair transplant is a surgical procedure performed on people who have a problem of significant hair loss. It involves transferring hair grafts (skin and hair units of 1 to 4 hairs extracted from a single donor strip) from the back and sides of the head (the donor area) to balding or thinning areas where new hair is suppose to be grown. In medical terms it is termed as alopecia. It helps in correcting androgenetic alopecia, scarring alopecia and other types of permanent alopecia. In some cases, hair loss from lupus, injuries, or other medical problems is also treated.

7 Steps to Hair Transplant

  • Consult the doctor to discuss all the pros and cons of the surgery
  • Blood tests are done
  • In initial phase of surgery patients are instructed to avoid aspirin and are not allowed to eat or drink 12 hours before surgery
  • During surgery, anesthesia is given to numb the recipient and donor area
  • Extraction of donor hair
  • Implanting of donor hair
  • Post operative care

Why to choose Hair Transplant:
Hair transplant surgery is the only way to grow or thicken hair on the head in such a short span of time. Other alternatives like medicine take much longer time and one has to apply the lotion or take tablet everyday and discontinuing may return the baldness. Hair transplant is a painless procedure of curing baldness with the advantage of giving re growth to the hair within few days.

How it looks?
It is important to take enough time in finding the right surgeon and find out the transplant techniques they use. In the early days most transplants did not look great but now it is done precisely using microscopes. During hair transfer from the donor area the hair wastage is kept minimal. The repositioning of existing hair is done effectively which is enough to regain patient’s confidence and self- esteem.
